About the ABCD
Welcome to the ABCD web site. For those of you who do not know what ABCD stands for - Association of Building Cleaning Direct (Service Providers). We represent the interests of Local Authority Building Cleaning Service Providers (formally DSO's) and are a non political organisation
Formed in 1989, our main purpose then was to network with each other regionally and nationally once per year at our conference. The networking was in the form of sharing information on the CCT issues mainly on activities of private sector cleaning companies. Our regional branches in the Midlands ,South and South West /North West ,/North East and Scotland meet on a quarterly basis and have lively debates on topical issues affecting our industry. In addition to Corporate Members we have two types of Partner Members:
- Supplier Partners who are suppliers and manufacturers some of whom have been staunch and loyal supporters of ABCD since day one
- Training Partners who are training providers to our Corporate Members
As an association we have close links with APSE(Association for Public Service Excellence) and BICS( British Institute of Cleaning Science) Public Service Networking Club.
We are represented as the public sector body for the industry on then British Cleaning Council (BCC) and the Property, Housing, Cleaning, Facility Management Skills Council.
Many of us are in Bench marking Clubs regularly and freely swapping information on costs, sickness levels, central charges etc. A strong membership is the key to our success and new members are always welcome.
Since 1989 we have seen many changes, met new challenges and still retained much of our business, some have even gained more. But one thing has not changed is our willingness to help each other and that should never change.
